Kyla Nascimento

Joined with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, apprenticed here for three years, got licensed, and now runs operations while training to become an instructor. She has a hand in everything — and she usually knows the answer before you finish asking

Kyla came to the Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, spent three years apprenticing under Chaminade, became a licensed esthetician, and is now preparing to become an instructor. Chaminade built the Academy and a professional beauty brand. Carly spent more than two decades leading education at one of the industry’s most recognized schools before bringing that experience here.

Chaminade still works the floor at the national shows — and everything she picks up out there comes straight back to Kahului.
Every year she exhibits at the national esthetics and beauty trade shows — the International Congress of Esthetics and Spa, and the Las Vegas beauty and wellness show formerly known as IBS and IECSC. Not as an attendee. As a brand with a booth, a team, and a floor full of licensed professionals stopping to learn something.
She has taught in California, Las Vegas, Texas, Philadelphia, Florida, and Hawaiʻi. She was asked to present a live demo — Facials to Vajacials: All Things Jelly — on the ICES Long Beach floor.
She’ll keep travelling. That’s the point. Every technique, every new product, every thing worth knowing that shows up on a mainland floor — she brings it back and teaches it here.
For the Academy’s very first cohort, she flew in master trainers from her brands to teach twelve women on Maui who had never done any of this before — because if she was going to do it, it was going to be done properly.
Because our people shouldn’t have to leave home to get the best of it.
